10 Questions for a PaladinWelcome to Character Analysis, the show that takes someone from a fictional universe brings them to our own, and asks them ten questions to find out what makes them tick. Tonight, we interview a young man who goes by a secret identity and hails from an alternate 17th Century Earth where sorcery is commonplace. Here we go.
1.) What is your name and occupation?
My alias is the Cheddar Paladin, I'd prefer to not reveal my true name as it my risk the safety of those I hold dear. I am a paladin in the 64th cavalry of the Kingdom of Winguard.
2.) "Cheddar" Paladin? Would you care to explain what that means? Also, would you fill in those in the audience who are unfamiliar with what a paladin is?
First, a paladin is similar to knight. The difference is that a paladin has sworn an oath to serve a cause greater than fealty to a king, usually to serve the greater good and to never veer from the path of righteousness. Though a paladin is always a knight, not every knight is a paladin.
Where Am I Going to Sit?Oh boy. This isn't good. Where am I going to sit? I don't know any of these kids. There seems to be an endless amount of tables in front of me but none of the people at them look like they'd invite me in. Everyone is sitting with their own friends, their little cliques. Every time I start moving toward a table, the kids sitting there either try to take up as much space as possible at the table, putting their backpacks up on the bench or even being so blunt as to just place their hand in a vacant spot, or they'll just look at me and shake their heads with a look about their face that would stop even a teacher from approaching.
Am I the only one here with a bag lunch? What a great first impression! I bet they all think I'm poor now. This stupid brown bag. It's like I'm ripped straight out of some old movie. Who uses a brown bag anymore? I was just rushed, that's all. I don't have a lunch card yet because it's my first day. That and Ma's not feeling well today so Dad had to make lunches f
Morning RewardsThe crisp, Autumn air was the first sensation that impacted Emily as she opened the front door. She always loved that indescribable freshness that fills her airways whenever she greets the morning outdoors. It's almost as if the atmosphere cleaned itself just for her, a reward for waking up that early just to enjoy nature at dawn. She closed her eyes as she inhaled and pretended that the refreshing coolness coating her lungs was the breath of life itself, it felt almost necessary to survival.
When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by the sight of a New England forest during peak foliage. Practically every color was represented. Leaves that covered the entire range of warm reds and oranges scattered across the still green grass. The sky was painted as brightly as the leaves with intense yellows and oranges and a slight hint of pink chasing away the deep blue of night.
To the right was the lake. Partially covered in a mellow fog, it teased her by showing some of its dark blues though
Eulogy for John K. FlemingJohn K. Fleming was my hero. If he did anything, it was for his family first, his friends second, the greater good third and himself last. He was an independent man, who never asked for help, even after he really started to need it. He enjoyed simple pleasures and never overindulged on material needs. He had a mind for economics and renovation, always dreaming up projects to work on in his spare time that were artistic, engineering, yet surprisingly cost-effective. He was the greatest friend and, more importantly, the greatest father a boy could ever have.
John's main priority was to provide for his family, doing so on a papermill worker's salary, a salary that was often given through cyclical employment. John was prepared to do many different jobs in the case of unemployment, having even earned the license to operate a cargo truck as something to fall back on. He was skilled in carpentry and was a virtual handyman which could have led to a number of different employment opportunities.
