Journal of a Paladin: Entry 20Journal of a PaladinEpisode XIX: ArtifactsBy Matthew R. FlemingA.K.A. the Cheddar PaladinEntry #20 The Fifth of December in the Year Sixteen Hundred and Ninety-sevenThe three of us hid in that antechamber, the fear of the Gods coursing through our veins as the Dragon of Mount Katah slammed into the Chovian door behind us in effort to break in and devour all but our bones and blades. Jordanello braced himself against the door in some futile attempt to keep the beast on the other side. Dr. Truman Kyle still had his torch, our only source of light. With what little glow we had, he and I searched the room for some device or infor

FlemingA.K.A. the Cheddar PaladinEntry #19 The Fourth of December in the Year Sixteen Hundred and Ninety-sevenDewium, Jordanello, and myself rode out to the site of the investigation the following day. Dew brought along two of his clockwork knights, his toolkit, including a massive wrench, and also his lute. It was larger than a normal lute and was painted an inky black. He managed to fix six strings to it, all of which are bolted to the neck. He tunes the instrument with the wrench. On the soundboard, or rather built within the soundboard, one can see another sy

FlemingA.K.A. the Cheddar PaladinEntry #18 The Third of December in the Year Sixteen Hundred and Ninety-sevenThe tower that Emzie and Dewium inhabited stood four or five stories tall, and displayed a large, accurate clock on the exterior of the top story. Along any given side of the building were visible, moving cogs, and tubes, and other mechanical components, making the building seem alive. Compared to the wooden shacks that lined the streets of Medguard, the Velleous home stood out like a monument or a keep.We inherited the tower from its previous owner, f

Every day that we both could find time after class, and every Saturday morning. I hadnt told any of my friends about it, and that bothered me some. The $.99 ChallengeThe $.99 Double Cheeseburger ChallengeA Study by Matthew R. Fleming and Kyle LeathersIntroThe point of this study is a comparison of the three major fast food restaurants, McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's, and their double cheeseburgers, all offered at 99 cents (plus tax). This is not a comparison of the franchises themselves or the individuals operating the restaurants, or cooking and preparing the food, but the sandwiches in question. The study is an attempt to find, in the authors' opinions, which burger is giving the customer the most for his or her $.99.The sandwiches in question:Burger King's Double CheeseburgerMcDonald'

Turncoat "You'll never win," warned Agent Blue, hands raised above his head in surrender, "should you kill me now, you will be hounded by others from the bureau.""Bring them on," challenged Quartermain, the assassin whose silenced Beretta was pointed at the doomed agent's forehead, "as soon as I'm finished here, there will be no way to find me. Should they manage to track me down, I'll be well protected by then.""So it's true!" exclaimed Blue, "You are defecting to C.R.I.M.S.O.N. after all!""Not that the knowledge will do you any good when you're dead," said Quartermain, "but the payroll for a man of my talents is much more enticing there."Ag
On Writing JoaPON PROCESSI don't have a definite process for writing. I just let it come naturally. I'm usually writing for my novel or an essay for a class and in either case, I don't spend too much effort.I usually have something to drink, iced tea, cola, anything with caffeine. I like to listen to whatever music I like at the time, though whenever I have to write dialog, I make sure to listen to something without lyrics as they can be distracting.I draw much of my inspiration from current events or history, often videogames and comics as well. My biggest inspiration comes from my family and friends. I've based the majority of my characters off of t
