Bet you thought this was gonna take awhile, eh?
QUANTUM OF SOLACE
Truly the best way to enjoy the Craig Bond series is to watch the movies back to back, which, I could say I did, sort of. Quantum starts right after Casino ends, with Bond putting clues together about a mysterious agency that even MI6 can't detect. With twice the action of Casino Royale, it's hard to believe that this Bond film is a good 40 minutes shorter than it's predecessor, possibly making it the shortest Bond movie to date, and perhaps one of the most enjoyable.
If you caught my last journal, and if you're reading this, there's a good chance you did, you'll remember the severe panning I gave Daniel Craig, an opinion I still stand by, actually. He's cold, wooden, and intense. But DAMN, did you know he did his own stunts? That's saying alot for him with this movie. He may have just a smidge of personality but he's one Hell of an action star, that's what good I can say about him.
The movie itself is a HUGE step up from Casino. For one, it's got some of the best camerawork I've seen in an action film. That and the titles for every scene change are wonderfully done, with different font and style, it's very cool. That and they're tastefully giving Bond back some suave humor, which made me very happy.
The music, once again, was awesome. Jack White wrote a KICKASS opening theme and with Alicia Keys' vocals it's a very powerful Bond theme. Also, the opening credits had many references to older Bond credits which was VERY cool. Love eet.
I can't say much more about the film other than it's certainly worth the price of admission. Go see it while it's still in theaters, with friends, and if you can, watch Casino Royale before going to see this, they really make one big movie together.
All n' all, this one stands up as high as any of the better Brosnan films and even some of the Connery ones. It feels good, it really does.
8.5/10
Also, saw a preview of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. Looks freakin'... I donno, not like Star Trek. But very cool anyway.
Reboots.
They're the "in" thing now.

This is just a list of all the chapters I've done with JoaP so far. Makes reading it a little easier, so you don't have to go hunting for it in my gallery.

"Someone that you think that you can trust is just another way to die."
Jack White & Alicia Keys - Another Way to Die

I stand firm by the creed, "If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it."
Though I'm so glad they did it for the Hulk.
...I wonder who they'd get to remix the theme song...
I doubt I'll watch it any time soon, I'd rather see Role Models first.
I'd like to see Role Models. McLovin is in it. McLovin rocks.
And I don't care if I ever learn his real name.
I have to agree with you with regards to Craig's Bond being very cold... but remember, he has just lost the love of his life.. a love who had betrayed him, yet saved him at the same time. He's a conflicted, troubled man.
I can imagine that his cocky, womanising self is just a mask to cover up his growing sense of distrust in people from now on... something I hope Daniel Craig develops in his performance as the sequels roll in.
I found this instalment lacking, to be honest. The villains didn't quite do it for me.. and I begin to dislike this 'bum movie to introduce the next film'. It definitely felt that they've saved the meat for the next film.. which is bloody unfair, since we came to see this one.. Movie makers fully intend to make part three, but it sucks that they chose not to fill out this part as much. Very annoying, in fact.
X3... if ya know what I mean. All in all, I got a special dvd edition of Casino.. but I don't at all intend to get Quantum.. it just didn't do anything for me. :S
But otherwise, great review
