The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Yeah, long time, eh?

Short update:
Since my last entry, I had rid my desktop of Virtumonde only to be infected with it again 'bout a month later. Haven't fixed.
My laptop decided not to recognize my soundcard any longer. So now I have no sound. Presumed unfixable.

Computers hate me.

So I haven't done any painting in two months, and if it wasn't for the Wiinternet, I would not have watched any YouTube for the last month. Let alone download any music.

Speaking of music, I will almost certainly have my own copy of 21st Century Breakdown soon. What I've heard of it I freakin' love and I really, REALLY want the album.

Also, Sims 3 was released today. Good reviews so far. I can't wait for that either.

Man I've had 21st Century Breakdown for nearly a month and I'm not even exaggerating, I've listening to some of it everyday since because I don't have a life up here, lol. It's so fucking good. Better than American Idiot with little debate.

Sims 3 I have not touched as I have a Geforce FX 5500, the turd of the FX lineup, need at least a 5900, lol. Ball hairs.

Everyone seems to be talking about Sims 3. I'm intrigued, but would hate starting my families from scratch again.. when I'm into the second generation of my alien genetics experiment. Boo. Lol. :3
